How to Measure Penis Length and Girth Correctly
Consistent measurement matters when comparing your result with research. Use the same method each time and avoid treating small differences between measurements as meaningful.
Measuring erect length
Use a ruler along the top side of the erect penis. If comparing with studies that use bone-pressed length, press the ruler gently to the pubic bone and measure to the tip. Record whether your method was bone-pressed or non-bone-pressed.
Measuring girth
Use a flexible tape to measure circumference around the shaft, commonly at mid-shaft. Keep the tape snug without compressing the tissue, and record the method used.
Common measurement errors
Avoid changing the measurement location, mixing measurement methods, or comparing a partial erection with fully erect reference data. Repeat if the measurement seems inconsistent.
Use your result carefully
Research studies do not all use identical protocols. Measurements are most useful when your method matches the reference data as closely as possible.
